How to apply your full lace wig
Please Note: There are several methods of applying a lace wig unit depending on your preferences. This is one of many simple methods used.
Remember practice makes perfect.
Supplies You Will Need:
A. Scissors (must be sharp)
B. Round cotton make-up wipes (cotton rounds)
C. Combs (small toothed and wide)
D. Head Scarf (satin/silk)
E. Duck billed clips or bobby pins
F. 91% or 99% Alcohol
G. Scalp colored wig cap, or queen size knee high (optional)
H. Scalp protector
I. Lace Wig Adhesive (liquid, tape or both)
J. Lace Wig Adhesive Solvent/Remover (can be substituted with 91% or 99% alcohol)
Please Note: Before using any adhesives or tapes perform a patch test by placing a small amount of piece of the adhesive/tape on your skin (such as forearm) and leave for 24 hours to check for irritation. If irritation develops please discontinue use.
Follow These Steps:
Prepare your natural or existing hair: Wrap or cornrow hair to create a flat, lump free surface. (Hair should be prepared in the same manner as used when taking your measurements prior to ordering.)
Prepare your skin: With make-up wipe and 91% or 99% alcohol, clean the entire perimeter of the skin surrounding your hairline or the area in which you will place your unit. This will remove the oils and dirt that will cause your adhesives to be ineffective. *Tip exfoliate the skin in the area that your adhesives will be applied every two weeks. This will help to keep a lasting bond.
Apply skin protector: Apply a thin layer of skin/scalp protector around the entire perimeter surrounding your natural hairline or where you will be adhering the unit. Allow to dry completely. This forms a protective barrier between your skin and the adhesives, minimizing the chance of skin irritation.
Prepare your lace unit for application: Place the unit upon your head, and line up the side burn areas of the unit with your hairline to ensure proper placement. Evaluate where you'd like the hairline to be and with an eyeliner pencil began to outline the hairline shape of the unit by placing small dots on your skin right at the edge of the units hairline. This will help decrease the chance of having excess adhesive or tape outside of the placement area once applied. After you've determined the proper placement, place a bobby pin in the front center of your lace wig, this will aid you with proper placement once your ready to apply to the adhesive. Once you outlined the units hairline onto your skin, remove the unit and proceed with the next steps.
Cut the excess lace from the lace wig unit: You have two options here. You can leave about 1/4th of an inch of lace on the unit, or cut the lace as far back as to the edge of the beginning of the units hairline (being careful not to cut into where the hair is ventilated). Begin to trim the excess lace from the entire perimeter of the lace unit. Take your time and cut small areas at a time until all excess lace is cut away.
Apply adhesive to your hairline: Apply either liquid or tape adhesive around your hairline. If you are using liquid let it dry until it becomes tacky to the touch. (This may be just a few minutes depending on the liquid glue you are using; you may use a hair dryer on a cool setting to speed up this process.
Apply your lace wig: Tie your lace wig in a pony tail, as to prevent hairs from getting in the way and getting caught in the adhesive or tape. Working in small sections at a time beginning with the front middle section of the wig began to lay the lace into the adhesive or tape. Once you've applied the entire perimeter, with a fine toothed comb began pressing the edge of the lace into the adhesive to blend the lace with the skin/adhesive line and to secure the bond. If you make a mistake with the placement use a small amount of alcohol to loosen the bond, all adhesive become tacky again. There may be a need for additional adhesive to be applied.
Let glue adhere and dry completely: wrap a scarf around the perimeter of your hairline to make sure the glue or tape adheres securely. Wait a minimum of 1 hour before combing and styling your lace wig, however the best bonds are achieved overnight. Do not wash, swim or exercise in your lace wig for 24 hours after application.
HOW TO REMOVE YOUR LACE WIG
Pull your lace wig in a ponytail and apply a solvent in the attachment areas, let the solvent do the work to release your unit, do not force the release of the bond. Use more solvent as needed. Once you have removed your lace wig; remove any adhesive residue from the lace. Shampoo and condition your unit, seal the knots, apply and style.
HOW TO REMOVE EXCESS ADHESIVE FROM YOUR UNIT
In order to achieve a good bond with each application it is a must that you clean the excess adhesive from the lace of your unit. Top Sol and lace release adhesive removers works very well in this process. Start by dabbing the remover in the desired areas, allow the remover to sit 1 to 2 minutes. With an old toothbrush gently begin to work the adhesive off of the lace using circular motions. It's important to be gently in this process, scrubbing roughly can cause the knots of the hair to loosen thus resulting in shedding hair from your unit. Another product that works fast and easily in this process is 91% or 99% alcohol used in the same manner explained above.
HOW TO SEAL THE KNOTS
It's highly recommended to seal knots after each and every wash.
A mannequin head is highly recommended.
Sealing the knots on your lace unit is a preventative measure taken to stop the occurrence of excessive shedding of the hair on your unit, caused over time by styling, washing and adhesive removal.
Start by turning your lace wig inside out. Then place the wig on the mannequin. Avoid spraying the sealer on the hair. Try tucking the exposed hair under the cap, or try wrapping the hair with a plastic wrap. Smooth out any imperfections so that the cap lays smoothly on the mannequin head for even distribution of the knot sealer. Hold your knot sealer approximately 6 to 8 inches away, and begin spraying an even mist over the entire cap where there is hair ventilated. Always pay special attention to sealing the knots around the entire perimeter, these areas experience the highest amount of aggravation from glue/tape removal.
Again, it is highly recommended that you seal the knots after each wash.
Can of spray on "acrylic craft sealers" can be found at your local craft stores such as Michaels
HOW TO WASH YOUR HUMAN HAIR LACE WIG
A mannequin head can be helpful
Start by completely combing out the hair on your lace wig. With cool water begin to wet the hair down. Next, using downward strokes begin to work your sulfate free shampoo throughout the hair. Do not rub the hair in back and forth motions, continue washing the hair with downward strokes until desired level of cleanliness has taken place. Thoroughly rinse shampoo out of the hair. Begin to distribute your moisturizing conditioner throughout the hair. With cool/cold water thoroughly rinse all conditioner from the hair. Towel blot the hair to remove excess water and let the hair air dry. You can speed up the drying process by using a blow dryer set on cool air. Additional, optional and recommended steps: After you've rinsed your conditioner from the hair and towel blotted the hair dry, on damp hair apply a leave in conditioner and or shine serum. Dry hair using one of the recommended steps explained above.

How to create a Head/Hairline Template
Lay your hair as flat as possible. You can wear a wig cap, braid, or wrap
Cover the head with plastic cap
Wrap tape around the perimeter of the head (on top of plastic). Tape
should cover the hairline and lowest part of the sideburns.
Place two layers of tape onto the plastic to create the mold. Place the
First layer horizontally from ear to ear and the 2nd layer vertically from
front to back.
With a Black permanent marker - trace around the entire hairline (add any
peaks and hollows).
Place the letters FRNT in the front, BCK for the back L at left ear, and
R at right ear
Mark your last name in the middle of the cap
To ensure the markings stay put, and are not erased, add another layer of
tape on top of the markings.
Take off cap
Trim plastic that extends beyond the markings.
Try it on for size
If you like it, start the ordering process
If your only creating a hairline template you only need to trace the
hairline from ear to ear. Place the tape horizontally from ear to ear, and
cut away any excess beyond about 3 inches back from the from hairline and
any other excess beyond the markings in the front. Place the letters "L"
at the left side and the letter "R" at the right side of the mold. Be sure
to add a 3rd layer of tape across the markings so they do not rub away
